Social media has become so ingrained into our daily lives (and marketing plans) that we often just keeping plugging along with our posts and tweets and Instagram shots because it’s what we are expected to do, instead of treating it as a powerful outreach tool for our nonprofits.

To give you some social media marketing motivation for the upcoming year, today’s podcast does a dive into what’s trending in social media, what you need to be on the lookout for and what you can just let go of.

Remember, like everything else in the nonprofit marketing and communications sphere, one size does not fit all. You need to make decisions about where and how you spend your time and talent in social media so that it works for you. But there are some truisms that apply to everyone!

In today's podcast, we explore:

  • The stats and facts for various platforms that will help you determine which ones are a fit for your organization that you use now, which ones you might want to explore in 2020 - and which ones you can just forget about.
  • The new reasons why quality content is still king, and how they’ll affect what you share on social media.
  • What UGC is and why it’s worth pursuing for your social media platforms.
  • Why you can’t just “set and forget” your posts.

Towards the end of the podcast, I chat about a couple of recent changes at Facebook at Instagram and the exciting news that IG is allowing you to have a permanent “donate” button on your profile. Here’s the promised link on how to do that.
